Achieving Your Goals in 2015
How To Make 2015 A Great Year In Business
We need to get out and be adventurous in business, and goal oriented in our excursions. Don’t show up for the sake of it. Have a goal before you arrive, and execute a plan to get there. Your 2015 needs to focus on goals. If you dream of it, and move toward it each day, you will achieve. It is not just one dream, but a year filled with multiple dreams which are inched toward with each hour. How can you ensure you are achieving your goal?
Your Goal Must Be Measurable
The easiest way to know if you are getting there is by setting a numeric value to your success. Here are some suggestions:
- Creating a survey to measure results – Asks customers to rate staff
- Measuring sales results – As a sales rep, manager, director, VP, or CEO
- Measure appropriate KPI’s and stick to them – Do not change your objectives throughout the year
- Have quarterly reviews of yourself, looking for new beneficial paths
- Ask your peers what you can do to be better
- Ensure your boss knows of the tracking you are doing – share the results
If you are following a game plan, you find cyclical successes, and can more easily get your team to buy into your goals. Without their buy-in, your results will never be realized. Success will always be your choice. We have all seen the unsuccessful chair occupier. Be sure to stray from their negativity.
You Must Surround Yourself With Positivity
If you join forces with the negative, you will be viewed in that light, and potentially, taken away from your successful path. Do not stray from the very reason you found success in the first place. The reason you are here is because you want to find ways to improve your chances of success in 2015. The best way for you to do this is by surrounding yourself with successful, positive people. There are many people out there that have negative tendencies, but still achieve, but they do not usually manage a team of people, and certainly do not understand the need to be happy to create spin-off success. Keep motivated by sticking with positive people.
Surround yourself with people who are only going to lift you higher. Life is already filled with those who want to bring you down – Oprah Winfrey
For you to benefit in 2015, be sure to reach out to marketing groups, sales groups, or even a book club. By doing so you will engage with people outside of your daily routine, allowing to take-in new ideas, great conversations, and motivation to take back to your career throughout the year. Many people in these marketing groups are like-minded, and are searching for successes, as joining is usually an extra-curricular move. You also never know what value people may provide to you down the road.
Go In With A What Can I Do To Help Mentality
People will reward you for your actions. If you want to be thought of later, you must put effort into being kind. Be a sponsor, be a shoulder, be a leader, and always lend your time. We have to keep our eye on the prize by year-end, but you must carefully consider the fact that your team will get you there. You may not have direct reports, but you still must consider the interactions you have at work, and how those interaction impact your success. Ensure you open the door to your rapport building by showing that you care. If you get your team onboard, you will have a drove of people standing behind you, waiting for support.
Clean Your Slate
Your first few hours on Monday should be devoted to starting fresh. Reformat the setup for your business email account. Create new folders that you think could help you achieve this year. Make changes to your signature to become something new. Ensure you update all of your internal photos, and LinkedIn photos. If there were problems that came up for you last year, be sure to learn from them, but completely erase the negative tendencies that may come from reflecting on them. Recycle any 2014 piece of paper that has no relevance to your future. Your desk must be spotless, and you must be ready to be more organized in 2015. For you to have success, you must be better at managing your desk, email, and issues. Your motivation for this year will come from ensuring you have a new outlook, and clean slate.
